I've often wondered what these people have against love. Possibly, they have based their entire life on another 4 letter word - hate and so the word love just is not part of their dictionary. They say that this is a western concept that is 'corrupting' the Indian youth. Hey, but didn't the creatures who attack guys and girls in a pub in Mangalore last
year wear western shirts and trousers? So does the same westernisation rule not apply to them? And are you telling me that they don't wear jeans, wear a watch, use a mobile phone, watch TV.... or are all these "Indian"?

And then we have another argument that love is not an Indian concept, it is something that has been imported from the west.
Not an Indian concept? Then what is the whole legend of Radha, Krishna and the gopis of Vraj? Don't these stories celebrate the many splendored emotion called love?

Legend has it that from childhood Radha and Krishna were close to each other - they played, they danced, they fought, they grew up together and wanted to be together forever, but the world pulled them apart. He departed to safeguard the virtues of truth, and she waited for him. He vanquished his enemies, became the king, and came to be worshipped as a lord of the universe. She waited for him. He married Rukmini and Satyabhama, raised a family, fought the great war of Ayodhya, and she still waited. So great was Radha's love for Krishna that even today her name is uttered whenever Krishna is refered to, and Krishna worship is though to be incomplete without the deification of Radha. And so why is it that love is regarded as a "western" import?
So inspite of what the SS or the SRS may feel, love is here - alive and kicking. And what better way to show it than the new temple coming up in Tamil Nadu that is dedicated to Lord Krishna and St. Valentine?
And so to everyone, whether you love it or hate it - just go out and enjoy it in a loveable way.
